chorizo

I've had a chunk of chorizo in my fridge for a couple of weeks, how long does it last? Is it still gonna be alright to eat?

It can hang for months in the shop so your chunk should be fine. As long as its a chunk, and not pre-sliced slices, I would imagine there will be no problems at all - it will probably last several more weeks yet!;)

If you're worried, maybe slice a thin slice off the end and bin it before eating the rest (so that the bit that has been "exposed" to the air has gone), but I wouldn't worry - it would certainly still be eaten in this house!!:p

I've had recent experience of chorizo picking up mould in a fridge - so take care!

The mould that you get is similar to that you get on cheeses or the ouside of Sarrano ham- so scrape it off and it'll do you no harm. Chorizo has been cured, and keeps for months and months - in Spain, they often hang it from their kitchen or keep in the pantry - it seems to go more mouldy in the fridge!

    yep. should be fine.

I had a bit like that, in the fridge for about 4 weeks I think, we sliced it and had it on a pizza on Thursday and it was fabulous.

A Spanish cured sausage - made with paprika has similarities to Italian salami. Used a lot in cooking - especially Spanish bean dishes, very tasty.
