Student Overdraft

I am working graduate, who is trying to pay off a student overdraft from a Barclays graduate account. I have just been written to telling me that the current graduate package has ended and i need to sign up for somethign called "Graduate Additions". This will enable me to keep my overdraft limit (at the same rate of interest) but it will now cost me £5 p/month to keep facility. Are there any alternatives out there? ???

My girlfriend has an account with Barclays and they are about to charge her £9.50 a month for the privilege.

Needless to say she is going to leave them.

I suggest you look around at other banks as there must be a better deal around somewhere for you.
  • Can I ask what the £9.50 is for. is this customer loyality in reverse. get real, graduate account should be 0%, if not, they will sucker you up with offers of credit cards and loans to whet your appetite.

Take one, and you could be doomed.

Tell 'em to get off (clean version, more realistic one available by return of post!).

PS, why do we, as students end up in debt? arewe not the high earners (tax!!!!) of tomorrow.

As you've got time to have a go at numerous users of this site, why don't you go and have a look at all of the details relating to Barclays bank accounts.

I'm not prepared to contribute to questions placed by you. My girlfriend is in the process of moving her bank account. We're not stupid as you seem intent on suggesting, both to me and the original poster.

You'll be doomed when you speak to someone face to face the way you are to people on here, and they react.

I'm not labelling students here, but there are people on here who have been through many problems and have come out the other side. Some may well have been driven by being uncontrolled when it comes to spending on credit cards. Some people find it difficult to handle money. Until recently I was just keeping my head above water when it came to credit card repayments.

Go on, I paid interest. What are you going to do to me?

People that come on here aren't here for you to vent your bitterness at them.

People come here for help, advice, for suggestions. They come here to find a way out. Yes, the site is also aimed at doing one over on companies.

It isn't for putting people down. While you persist on doing it to people, you will keep seeing my username appearing nearby.

Only I won't aim to offend others. I try to help where and when I can.

I treat people the way I wish to be treated, politely.

Normally, I wouldn't say anything to someone like this. But there comes a point when something has to be done for the benefit of other users, and the integrity of the website itself.
