Drying petals for confetti.

I think this may have been discussed before, but after a quick search I couldn't find anything on it.
We have loads of roses/and other flowers in the garden which are stunning and I love the idea of dring out these petals to use as confetti. i.e. by making some lovely cones or something. But I have no idea how to dry the petals or for that matter once they are dry how long or how they should be stored.
I am keen to start now, before they all die away and are lost for the rest of this year.
Any help gratefully recieved.
Thanks.

I think that you can lay petals of the same colour out onto kitchen roll and then blast them in the microwave in short blasts to take out the moisture then leave them out to cool down they will be dried and have no scent. you can then box them up again the same colours together and keep adding to the boxes as you go.
Don't quote me on this, I read it somewhere but can't remember where!0 -
Hiya
I'm not able to help myself, but have you posted this question on the 'Old Style Moneysaving' board? There's lots of crafty types over there will probably know how to do it. cant be much different to pressing or collecting lavender etc.
i think you'd need an awful lot though to make enough because they shrink quite a lot. What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I've thought about pressing rose petals, but pressed flowers are a little more delicate than dried.
My OH's mum has tried microwaving them, but they burn very easily!!Swagbucks Amazon gift vouchers 2014 125/250

Possibly the key is to let the petals dry naturally...my bouquet of peach roses has been stored in a box and wrapped in tissue paper to absorb the moisture...ive just gone and checked it in loft now and whilst the roses are not as they were on my wedding day, they have shrunk in size the petals are still perfectly formed and very dry...my bouquet is now 17 years old!
I think the darker the colour of the rose the more chance there is of retaining colour...the white petals have become brown over the years
Just had a quick look on line and found this
