This all sounds par for the course with these voucer shenanagins. As I said right near the top of the thread I remember the chaos and abuse that followed the La Redoute codes some time back. The same argument is made time after time.
I used the voucher after seeing it in the paper but not really registering it. The post prompted me to do something. So I ordered one for me and that was it. That was what I felt was the right thing to do for me. Others make different moral choises.
We cannonot police these offers and all attempts to force your morals as to what is greed or entrepreneurial opportunism vs. selfless denial and self control are futile. They are simply two sides of the same coin. Shoulds and oughts don't come into the argument. How many people who ordered heavily are likely to change their actions on the next similar offer just because they have been berated here. For the sake of £5 this has generated a lot of bad feeling. Which personally I don't feel is worth the effort. I refuse to get upset for anything less than £100
More of a concern to me is the short sightedness of this sort of frantic overuse of codes. There are clear posting guidelines about codes and the potential implications of misposting. Even the most greedy / opportunistic amongst us should recognise that we would be significantly worse off long term if MSE was damaged as a result of abuse. As damaging as it would be to my pocket in the short term I would much rather see a no codes policy than some outright threat to MSE. this may be leaping ahead and as others have said they could be accessed elsewhere if not here. I look forward to saving many more £000s over the next few years as a result of the support and advice here.0 -

I completely agree.
We should all learn from the advice and well plain harshness of the mse'ers today.
we need to stick to the rules next time and not make the websites take of the codes so we can all use them for longer and make more people happy.
i admit i did order 5 things at the very start of the thread but from now on with these sort of freebies i will only get one item and hope everyone else will aswell\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/\o/Care to take a bow?0 -
[QUOTE=boysmum3
I think questioning peoples morals is a bit much under the circumstances. The t's & c's clearly state 1 per reader - if 2 adults live in same house then 2 adults will read the paper.
My household ordered 2 items - me and Oh - but i do not feel morally superior to those that ordered 5,6,7,+ - its up to them and good luck to everyone - i hope they all arrive[/QUOTE]
Well said boysmum3. Similarly, we ordered 2 items - for hubby and myself - and I truly hope at least one will turn up.
This offer reminds me of those famous £5 off Boots coupons, back in January. This is what happens when companies don't mention any minimum spend, or don't use the 'magic' phrase 'only one order per household'. In such circumstances, abuse is likely to happen all too easily. It will be interesting to see how this company deals with the situation.'Into every abyss I still bear the blessing of my affirmation' (Friedrich Nietzsche)0 -

Nobody from this company has contacted us yet. I'll let you know if/when this happens.'Into every abyss I still bear the blessing of my affirmation' (Friedrich Nietzsche)0 -

I don't usually give out my mobile number either, but in this case, I thought they might want to contact me, and I wanted them to be able to do that (I'm no 'paranoid' - or maybe I am?
). In my interpretation of events - which may be inaccurate, I know - this is what I thought I had to do. This is what I chose to do, in this case.
I hope they won't disturb me any further - I have unticked all of the boxes on their form.'Into every abyss I still bear the blessing of my affirmation' (Friedrich Nietzsche)0
