thanks - i am going to make another one at the weekend - biut will leave the fruit longer to soak the brandy in to hopefully will not be as rinny then. Might try chopping the top bit off where there is no visable fruit as you won't be able to see it once its iced!!!Lightbulb moment 10-06-06

I've decided to have a go at making a christmas cake this year and will be using Delia's recipe as most of you seem to recommend it but I was a bit shocked to see that it takes 4-5 hours to cook!
What else can I cook in the oven at the same time to take advantage of the time it's on, bearing in mind its only on a very low heat, gas mark 1, and will it be ok to open the oven a few times while the cake is in there to take things in and out?0
