A few questions to try to work out where you stand.
- Do you dispute anything about this debt or the amount claimed?
- Is it statute barred?
- When did you first take out the card?
- Did this come by post? If so, did you have notice that someone had tried to serve the demand personally but failed to do so?
What other debts do you owe? Do you have any assets of value or equity in a property?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

hI thanks for the reply , the statutory demand came by courier delivery on monday , i have previously requested a CCA from 1st Credit back in 2009 , all i recieved was basically terms and condition s . Never had any thing to say Connaught had any thing to do with the debt , only a letter on 1/6/10 from Judge and Priestley . The card was taken out in 2006 ,I have a mortgage on my property not much equity though as have a secured loan on it too . Thanks0

So would they gain anything from making you bankrupt then?
If you don't have much equity or assets, then it would be pointless for them to do. And honestly, Connaughts/1st Credit hardly ever do.
How much (very roughly) is this debt?
Without seeing what they sent in response to the CCA request, it's hard to judge whether you might have grounds to get the SD set aside.
It may be worth registering and posting on the forum in this link:

There are some people there who are very good at getting SD's from Connaughts and similar companies set aside if at all possible.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

1st credit, Connaught collections and Judge & Preistley are the same company.
I requested a CCA from 1st Credit and they sent me terms and conditions, to be honest I could have typed it myself on word so I don't believe it to be a true copy. I am disputing I owe the debt but they are not prepared to discuss it and just keep demanding payment. When I say I won't pay they say they'll go to court and hang up. If they had a leg to stand on why keep asking? Take me to court then. It's been two years now and the letters they've been sending must have cost them more than the debt!
If they are contantly harassing you like they are me, contact the OFT. They are compliling a case against 1st Credit which could make them liable for a £50,000 fine.
Also, try calling the National Debt Helpline, they are really helpful and have reassured me to keep ignoring these calls/letters until it actually goes to a court application.0
