Wisdom Teeth...

:) Good morning everyone

I'm 23 & i went to the dentist last week for the first time in 11 years :o (very very bad i know) as i've been having toothache on the top left of my mouth, and was clearly over due a visit to them anyway...!

I asked her how long she thought i hadn't been for as i was interested to see if she could tell how long, and after having a thorough look at my teeth and an X-ray, she said 2-3 years as i have very good teeth just some build up tartar - however the reason for my toothache is a small hole in my wisdom tooth, which she said to get extracted would cost £90 (didn't expect it to be that much?) & would only take 10 minutes as they numb the area around the tooth and i would feel a scratching but it shouldn't hurt..

Can others shed experience on this as i'm very nervous, from what i've read online it seems alot worse? :(

She also recommended i get a small white filling for another tooth (£30) and a clean up (£50) - are these prices good/bad? The check up & X-ray cost me £45. I've heard of people getting wisdom teeth removed at the hospital, free i think?

Appreciate any comments!

xx

Assuming you are at a private practice the prices do seem reasonable to me. Extractions of teeth at hospital are generally reserved for difficult extractions deemed by your dentist to be too hard to do in practice. That doesnt seem to be the case here if they are offering to do it. I really truly wouldnt look at other peoples experiences for wisdom teeth extraction as they are ALL different. Upper ones are in my experience much easier than lowers too.
