in Cutting tax
Just a quick one, submitted my tax return online on Monday and calculation showed I was due a reboot of around £1900, could actually really use this money right now. How long does it take them to process the online return and issue a refund?

I've always had my rebate within a week, sometimes earlier.0

It should be no longer than 3 weeks. If you don't have it by then start shouting.Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0

If you put your bank details on the return, you'll get it in about 10-14 days. If you didn't, you'll have to call and request a cheque.0

Thanks for the heads up
Was concerned that it was shown as submitted but not showing as received, just called the helpdesk who advised that the system had been down for 3 days and is now catching up
Glad they spend our taxes wisely on quality systems0 -

Manners after all cost nothing.
If they come on shouting or swearing they are asked, in a polite way, to speak to me with the same kind of politeness and respect they are being spoken to by myself. If they continue they are warned, and then if they still continue I cut them off.
I don't see why they think they have the right to come on the phone and speak to people like that.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

Tillboy, by submitting online in good time and giving your bank details to enable a direct transfer you have done all that you can.
Refund payments do sometimes appear within a week, but when larger amounts are involved HMRC may decide to do a "security check", which can delay things.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

"start shouting" I didn't expect this comment to be taken literally, but there we go....Hideous Muddles from Right Charlies0

I remember the "security check" issue being discussed on various websites, as some people think it is a ploy by HMRC to earn extra interest. You might like to amuse yourselves and pass the time waiting for refunds by taking a look here:
