Haggling a gym membership?

I would like to join a Fitness First in London, and I was wondering whether it is still possible to haggle a gym membership? In my previous memberships at other gyms I have always been stunned and rather peeved to find out everyone else is paying less than me as they negotiated. I want to join just before Christmas, but I know January will be their busiest time as everyone joins to start their new keep fit regime before numbers drop off in Feb when they get bored. So can I still haggle even if the prices are fixed on their website? And should I wait a bit, and join in February? Or try to haggle at the end of December to get in their last sales figures for the month? Any advice very gratefully recieved!
