Failed at job interview due to "Low Energy"

  • I guess their feedback of "low energy" was a cop out, they just clicked with the other candidates better but did not have the balls to say that so came up with something silly and not very constructive!

TBH you have hit the nail on the head. I once failed to get a job because of 'lack of drive'. Everyone who knows me and the recruitment consultant were in disbelief! A close friend said that they must be talking about the wrong person.

Don't let it get you down and keep your chin up. There's something out there for you.

Just to clarify, although I am disappointed not to get the job I appreciate that there were better candidates up for it as well. My only concern is the feedback, they believe I am capable of doing the job, have all the relevant experience and skills but felt I had "low energy"!!

To me "low energy" implies no motivation. However, in the field that I work in (sales) someone with low energy would not survive!! I have been succesfull within this field since I joined, hit my targets year after year etc if I was a person with "low energy" I would not have made it this far and would have been sacked years ago!

Yes it was a cop out. Feedback of "low energy" is a pretty meaningless response. It's not that they didn't have the courage to tell you straight, but as others have suggested they're probably a little clueless and just came up with any old excuse. No serious person would discount someone on this basis, "low energy" on the day of the interview could be due to any number of factors, e.g. illness (headache, stomach bug), late night, stuck in traffic for hours.

Just remember even the best judges of character can't tell what a person is like after a single meeting, so I wouldn't read too much into what they said.

As someone said already, their loss. When one door closes, another one opens.
