Help for a newbie - please!!

Hi everyone,
As you can see from the title I am a newbie to the forum - well to posting anyway, I have been reading it for a while since getting engaged in January.
I am so excited as I am about to visit a possible venue with my lovely other half on Sat morning. Its an historic brewery and we are thinking that this might be somewhere a bit different. One of the attractions being that guests can have a tour of the brewery whilst photos etc are being taken. It caters for the ceremony, wedding breakfast and evening reception.
We are due to meet the wedding co-ordinator (who apparently is also the chef), but am wondering what sort of questions we should be asking. i can think of some that are specific to the venue and the sort of things that we might want for our day, but am not really sure what general questions we should be asking. As a newbie to all of this I don't want to miss something, especially something obvious.
Any guidance welcomed.
Thanks

between now and saturday every time you think of a question write it down...that way you will have a list to go through at the meeting...the co-ordinator will have done it many times so will give you an overview of what generally to expect but there will always be loads of questions that you may still want to ask...dont be frightened to take a notebook and pen to jot down the answers and remember to get an email or number so that if anything else springs to mind after the meeting you can ask...have fun and enjoy the visitfrugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

first is does it hold all of the guests you need?
is there a certain room for different numbers of guests? if so which one will you be using? can you see it?
do they charge a corkage fee if you were to take your own wine, presuming its a beer brewery?
if they dont allow corkage can you get charged by the glass of wine used rather than the bottle?
do they allow confetti to be thrown?
what time is the bar license until?
thats al i cant think of off the top of my head but theres loads more lol
this is also a great checklist to have too

Do they allow candles (if you want them)I love surprises!0

What time does the music & party have to end? VITAL question IMO! You don't want everyone to get into the swing of the party only to be told you have to be quiet by 10:30!
FAB idea BTW, I would love to go to a wedding in a brewery!

Remember to ask about the decoration (can you stick things on the walls? for example) as well as making sure the VAT, service charge, staff, linen and so on are included in the prices you're quoted. Definitely take a notepad with you!:grinheart It's Mrs Coupon now - saving and comping my way to a brighter future :grinheart0

Just wanted to say, perfect timing Hadley1!! I have my first venue visit this evening, and hadn't thought of most of the questions the other posters came up with, but now have a printed list to take with me, with spaces for answers

Hope it goes well on Saturday!
Thanks all

Hey Hadley, I just wanted to say that venue sounds fab! Can I be cheeky and ask where it is? Cheers!

Thanks once again for all your help!!
Its the Shepherd Neame Brewery in Faversham, Kent. Think its the oldest brewery in england which is still producing beer. It has some meaning for us as a couple as I dealt with some developments there (I'm a planning officer for my sins) and well, the other half just likes beer. :rotfl:0 -
When I read your thread I wondered if it was there...I live in Maidstone! Did they have any outside area at all? Sorry...just being nosey as OH loves Shepherd Neame so it could be a possibility for us!
Very happily married on 10th April 2013
