CSA payments direct to child

Hi folks, just a quick question.
Can maintainance payments be made directly to the child?

CSA payments can't. They'll class it as a gift. It has to go to the parent with care.
    August GC 10th - 10th : £200 / £70.61
    NSD : 2/8
  • Do you want to pay direct to the child as a NRP or the PWC? The problem with this is that it isn't the child paying for the tesco shop or the utilitiy bills. It would be incredibly unfair to put that type of burden on any child.

Afraid not, have you seen the price of fags and booze? :rotfl:

DUTR - Sorry i did chuckle, your humour is refreshing, but if my children spend pocket money on fags or booze, I will not find this so amusing!!!!

Sasparilla tablets, Vimto and Walkers crisps should be the naughtiest things they buy!! :D

Thanks ever so much Shell_542, for the prompt and informative reply. I was asking the question as I am the NRP and it is the childs father who spends the maintainance on fags, booze and gambling - the child soes not benefit at all. His expenditure on these items far exceed his income, this was the only reason that I asked the question, Thanks again Shell!!!

This will challenge some of dutr's stereotyping issues.
Please do not confuse me with other gratefulsforhelp. x
  • If you're arrangement of paying maintenance is not through the CSA, make sure you have a way of clearly stating that it is for child support.

If your PWC spends all this money of 'fags booze and gambling' and 'the child does not benefit at all', why are you happy for the child to live with him? Couldn't you offer him better? Just an honest question, I myself wouldn't be happy to see my child go without and would do whatever it took to make sure they didn't. Even going for main custody/PWC role.

Luckily others saw a sense of humour!
Looks like the sniping season has started again :p
The simple answer to the OP is no you cannot give it to the child(ren) directly. There are different ways of giving it indirectly , however as pointed out in other threads, irrespective of gender, it is up to the PWC how they spend the money and do not necessarilly have to spend all the donated cash on the dependants
  • If the child is in Scotland, they can apply themselves to the CSA for maintenance from 12 years of age provided nobody else is recieving maintenence for them.
