Phoned BT w@nkers today to ask why my router hadn't been delivered for the engineer coming on Tuesday (still showing on thier order tracking site) only to be told they had cancalled my order on the 1st of october and if I wanted it installed would have to re-order and wait god knows how long for another appointment.

I quickly remembered why I left BT in the first place and told them to shove thier order up thier a$$.
  • Thanks for all your replies. I'm not sure whether I made it clear that we have ordered BT infinity and it is available and the engineer should be coming out on 27th October (47 days after order!). A few of you seem to have had quite a long wait as well. I did consider changing providers to someone else other than BT (we are not currently with them, by the way) but having talked to friends, family and neighbours and looked at the results from broadband checker results in our area, most people are not getting much, if any, faster speeds from any other providers. FTTC seems to be the only way to go.

Your post is interesting to me in that you had your order cancelled for no apparent reason. I had BT Infinity installed on 7th October but it was only when I received my bill that I realised they had me down as option 1 when I had ordered the BT Infinity option 2. Option 2 is the (so-called) unlimited version whereas option 1 has a limit of 40gbs per month. When I contacted them I was transferred fom one department to another for over an hour. Eventually I was told that my order for BT Infinity option 2 had been inexplicably cancelled. I am waiting for them to put me on to option 2. In the meantime, my connection has never been slower - that's when I can actually get online. That's the reason why I am posting on here at such an ungodly hour of the morning. I am so disappointed, superfast broadband my a$$. And be warned, on my bill they charged me 90 quid for cancelling the contract I was on in order to upgrade to BT Infinity. They say they'll cancel the charge but why on earth are they making all these mistakes?

I'm not on Twitter but thank you for your help. My Infinity broadband is actually working at the moment. I am astounded.
Now that I've said that I'll probably jinx it.

Well know here for my rants against BT, I joined up with the first cheapest crowd I found on Uswitch. This turned out to some crowd called Primus. My bills (in comparison to BT) are down 33-50%.

My broadband is with Freedom2Surf, recently sadly taken over by the shambles that is AOL/TalkTalk/Tiscali/Carphone Warehouse. However they haven't dragged F2S down to their level yet.

Anyway. Fast broadband is available in both Magherafelt and Cookstown. F2S gave me a free upgrade, as long as I signed up for a 12 month contract.

So you don't have to get bogged down with that BT nonsense. Shop around and don't be afraid to dump these crooks.
  • my mums on a bt price from the stone age. She doesnt call internationally or generally that much nationally even, yet the bill still managed to rise to £256 in a quarter :s. As principal i wana say goodbye to BT for good. Does anyone have the sky package at the moment including tv..is the calls cheap?
