Just wanted to see if waiting time for installation is the same for everyone. We ordered BT infinity on 10th September and the engineer is supposed to be coming on 27th October. That's a wait time of 47 days. We're in Downpatrick area. Does postcode make a difference? Wondering if city people got it quicker!
Thanks in advance G
PS could be moneysaving if a letter of complaint leads to any good deals!:A

According to BT site only currently available on Ards and Lisburn exchanges:(
I'll not hold me breath for West of the Bann then:oI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
on website said that it wasn't available for us either - in fact I got an email from BT to say I couldn't get. Quickly followed by emails advertising BT infinity and asking me to sign up (got one yesterday!) despite already being in system. Doesn't really bode well. However it is our only chance of getting a decent speed out here in the sticks as we do not have access to Virgin, etc. Internet connection is so slow - can't even watch iplayer, at all.
Sorry talked too much but thanks for your reply.

try the other own equipment providers like O2 or Sky you may be able to get double BTs normal broadband speeds if they're set up in your exchange I went from 1.8mb with BT to 4.4 with O2 - and if you can go o2 use quidco as well

Ordered on 13th Sep, was offered 18th Oct, went for 19th as I wanted it installed in the morning. Lurgan exchange.0

Lisburn exchange and only being offered 1.5mb, not Infinity, only 2 miles from exchange so can't be that bad. Currently with O2 LLU and 3mbs+ all the time and haven't found anything better. Register your interest on the Infinity site in the vain hope that you might get it sooner!0

There are many coverage checkers out there but only one gives a definative answer, the official BT one.

All the others tell me no FTTC coverage but this one tells me I can get infinity.
The cabinets were installed a couple of months ago and there has been engineers visiting them on and off. I spoke to one of them last week and he confirmed it will be up and running in 4-6 weeks but BT are taking advance orders for Infinity.
It may well be that for those with long wait times, the order has been taken in advance of the service being ready and it will be provisioned as soon as it goes live in the area.
Most people seem unaware but the FTTC coverage in NI is being rolled out much faster than the rest of the UK as the local assembly have thrown a huge load of cash at BT to allow them to fibre up all the major town exchanges in the province in double quick time. Rural exchanges will be upgraded to ADSL2+ (up to 24mbps) whereas at the moment, these are mostly running on ADSL MAX (8mbps).

This is very good news for us all as otherwise we would have most likely been facing a long wait for this technology to arrive but for once, NI seems to be leading the way with FTTC coverage.0 -

I stand corrected if you go to the Infinity site to try and vote for your local exchange most Norn Iron ones won't let you as they are on a rolling package across our wee country:T
I'll still believe it when I see it thou:oI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
Sorry, I should have said on the https://www.fasterbroadbandni.com website if you click the 'go' button in the 'Find out more about the cabinet rollout' circle and then select your exchange from the dropdown menu, you should be able to work out if a cabinet is near to you and what it's installation date is.
Not sure what installation date means but this is part of the overall mystery!
Mine has an installation date of 31st October but all I can get on other checkers is that my exchange is already FTTC enabled.
However
http://www.trefor.net/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/exchanges.htm
says 'Accepting CP orders now' for my exchange.
I know that BT have subcontracted a lot of the work (KN Networks and SoNet at least) but I get the impression that they are struggling to keep up with the rollout programme0
