Jury Service - how long before you get paid?

Hi,

Can anyone give me a rough idea of how long it takes HMCS to make the loss of earnings/expenses payents when you've done Jury Service? I cannot find anything in their documentation to tell me.

I'm newly self employed but was able to provide sufficient proof of income to agree a fair lost earnings compensation rate whilst I did my jury service, so am not expecting any complications, I just need to have an idea of how long they are likely to keep me waiting?

Thanks

From the Juror's Charter (i.e. what you can expect from the court service at each stage of your jury service)
Where eligible, you may claim for:
    • travelling expenses
    • a subsistence allowance towards the cost of your lunch and refreshments
    • an allowance for other financial loss including loss of earnings / benefits and childcare costs up to pre-determined limits.
    You can expect:
    • to be given a claim form on your first day of jury service
    • your payments to be made within 5 working days of the court receiving a correctly completed and supported claim form, at the end of your jury service

Thanks so much for this. I missed the 5 working day bit.

We did our claim forms on the first day of jury service then handed in bus tickets, additional proof of loss of earnings and and so on as we went along. I must say the team looking after us were very efficient.

So maybe I should expect payment within 5 days of the end of Jury service. That will be good.

Just to update, the invoice from the court service came through about a week after my last day of jury service advising me that the funds would be transferred to my bank account within 5 working days of the invoice date.

So about 2 weeks post jury service in total.
