I'm happy enough for this to be a freebie (although if it gets moved to 'low-spend', that's understandable too). You do need to load the card but the money's still yours (albeit transferred into 'Starbucks money') until you spend it and then the stuff that comes in after that is free, on top of the £5 you've had to transfer (make sure you register your card and give your postal address online). I've only ever put £5 on my card and I've had several free drinks coupons, instant coffee sachets, money-off coupons, a travel wallet... Anyway, I don't mean to sound like I'm bickering but I thought I'd let people know that it is worth signing up. I got the most recent instant coffee freebie too.

I didnt get the free coffees but they sent me 50p off a coffee everyday for January!
A lot to be saved! I get a tall vanilla latte in my own flask
membership means i dont pay for the vanilla (25p?)
own flask takes off somthing like 25p
and now i have the 50p off vouchers!

every little counts!
