2 weeks since br and i've just about managed food, petrol and the mundane stuff on the budget i hoped to stick to.
its only a small step i know and not that big an achievement but i actually feel quite proud of myself in an odd way:o
Hi Crumbling
Got to just say well done and baby steps at first!!! :T
It took me a long time but once you get used to it, its fantastic having money for yourself again!!!
I am all prepared for christmas - for the first time since my kids were little (daughter just had 27th b/day on Tues!)
I know it feels strange at first having to budget everything but trust me it does get easier as the weeks roll by
Good luck and take care

hello, thanks for all the boosts to keep plugging away at my budget. i've had to eat rather frugally at times but haven't been cold or starving for which i am soooo grateful.
kepar, i really would love to get shut of my car - i see cars as a liability not an asset! however, i live in a rather remote rural area which has a bus run through once a day on alternate week days. great if i just needed my car for shopping as i could do it like that but i have a fair few medical appointments split btw 3 different hospitals - taxis would cost a fortune due to location.
another example is today, school rang me to collect my child who was vomiting. the school is approx 8 miles away and i was requested to get my child asap - no money at the moment for a cab, no one else to contact to do this for me and school is 8 miles away cross-country where no buses go! (apart from the school bus obviously).
so, yes, in an ideal world i would get shut of the car but with limited bus services, medical appointments and a school age child, its not feasible right now.0 -
