Hamish was merely reporting RICs own chief economist.

    Even better.

I was reporting RICS chief economist, speaking in October.

    These are september figures.

Presumably, he has access to internal data for October so far..... And may well have been referring to the current state of the market rather than this data which is up to 6 weeks old.
From the latest report it would appear 56% of surveyors did not report any price falls.

Very good point. Worthy of it's own thread.

Just goes to show the Halifax figures do indeed have a northern england bias.

Still getting to you, are they?

Good to have some truth to counter Hamish's extremely...um...selective reading. ;)
  • 94% said no rise

Hamish said supply is falling, he was wrong, it's rising even faster! I corrected him. We don't want mis information doing the rounds do we.

    No need to thank me...
    I thanked you anyway.

I swear this troll gets a sexual thrill by posting self-serving rubbish.

roll on a mega MOM fall by all the relevant indices at the end of the month.
  • Peter May of Minster Property in Wimborne said the market had acted as if a tap had been turned off.

"The general talk of cuts in government spending appears to have caused the fragile confidence in the property market to be shattered and this very much looks like we are heading for a double dip in the housing market," he said.

Double dip confirmed! Although the second trough will be much much lower than the first.

All good news for everyone.

    Excellent news.

Prices still stable or rising in 56% of the country, despite the Halifax drop.

Just goes to show the Halifax figures do indeed have a northern england bias.

So, Hamish doesn`t mind if some parts of the country is experiencing house price falls, but other parts aren`t ?

Halifax : "House prices fell by 5% last month".

RICS : "House prices are falling in 99.5% of the country, this looks like a catastrophe".
Hamish :  Not in Aberdeen they`re not. Halifax and RICS have a non-Aberdeen bias.
