How much do caterers cost?

Options
Hi guys!
My OH and I are gettiong married and we're very happy!
We are putting together a budget now, and we have no idea what to budget for the day time catering.
We would like three courses ( soup, roast beef, something chocolately) for fifty guests snd can't seem to find a caterer who will give us a quote with out having a stdown meeting about it first!

Is there anyone who has got married recently who would be willing to tell us how much they paid for the caterers?
I should say our venue is a church hall, not a hotel so there is no package, we'll be organsing the individual elements ourselves.
Our venue is Rowheath Pavillionn in Bournville.
Thanks for reading
A x

Thats a how long is a peice of string question I'm afraid!

The reason you can't get quotes without a meeting is because they can't quote without ALL the details.

Could be anywhere from £15/20 per head onwards depending on what you choose.

I'd cost £25 per head into my budget as a worst case and then work from there. I only briefly looked at outside caterers and they vary so much from area to area its impossible to compare.

I would expect to pay £20 per head. Consider the costs of serving it as well as cooking it.

The point of having a sit down meeting is there are so many factors for them to consider that they may add in to your per head plate.

If you want silver plates and expensive china that will be more than paper plates and a napkin. Etc etc.

If you wanted soup that you served yourself, a carvery style and profiteroles for example I would be aiming more at £10 per head.
    I love surprises!
