How do you manage your breadmaking?

Hi, would just like to say we bought a Morphy Richards 'Fast Bake' breadmaker yesterday, at Tescos, for £34.99, saving £10. Also checked Argos and they are currently £44.99 there. Not sure if it's the same model as PoshPaws has. I set it up for a 2 lb loaf last night before I went to bed using the delay button. Wow, was it great to come down this morning to the lovely smell of fresh bread! :j
The loaf was a really good even shape, much bigger than I thought it would be, ideal for slicing for toast or sandwiches. It had a brown crust all the way round but was everso slightly softer on top (which i quite liked). I cut some for lunch (of course DD and DS wanted sandwiches!) and it sliced incredibly well, I could get really thin slices using a bread knife. The taste was very nice and the density just right.
I must admit I had a bread maker a few years ago and ended up giving it away because I was not impressed at all with the bread it made but this is a great improvement, and not as expensive as the Panasonic one either.
In the instructions, (not something i normally read, then wonder why it all goes wrong), there was much stressing of careful measuring of ingredients. Whether it was just their 'get out clause' if people complained I don't know but I did pay more attention to amounts than I normally do and was veryplesed.
I am off now to try another version for tomorrow, hope this helps.:D

This probably wont help at all but wanted to chuck in my 2p worth!
I was lucky enough to get my breadmaker as a wedding present (some vv generous friends
) so no costs to recoup. I am currently tryijg really hard to save money and hada couple of weeks of making our own bread and buying none. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 small children who seem to have bottomless pits for tummies. We get through about 3-4 shop bought loaves a week and I find we needed about 4 homemade ones.
The family definitely eat less of my bread than shop bought stuff (hmm) but they still eat a lot of it so I figure that is ok. My husband doesn't like the bread for sandwiches (he's so fussy) but does like it for toast. The kids fine theor sandwiches fall apart and their toast is a bit more chewy but all in all they like it ok.
So after a week of arguing with hubby about me trying not to buy bread, I thought the best thing to do was compromise so now I buy one loaf a week for his sandiwches and make the bread for the rest of us. As I was buying that best of both stuff which is £1 a loaf and I can make a loaf for about 15p using fresh yeast which is free from Asda and Smart Price flour. So we are saving about £2.50 a week, not bad added up over a month.
You are right the bread is a funny shape but it still tastes yummy, and is much mich more filling than shop bought stuff. Its only the middle 2 or 3 slices that have a bit missing. It also freezes very well.
Good luck, hope you manage to find a way to fit it in

Over the years we had tried a number of bread makers with various results, untill we tried the Panasonic.
Compaired to all the others we had it was magic. Would not be without it now.I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.0
