Hi ROom!
THis is a bit of a follow on from the Tesco Prices thing... We went into our Local tesco's in Abingdon on saturday to buy a new pair of kids shoes.. Firstly we didnt go in there to go all over the shelves scanning each one looking for a cheaper price, but the first ones we picked up which were priced at £3 scanned using the handheld scanners at £1.50....
Not believing it (and because they are cheapy shoes) we went to get another pair at the next size up (growth spurt time!), these again scanned at £1.50.
I am guessing this only works on the funky handheld "scan it yourself" scanners as you will probably have to pay £3 if you went to the till. but handy otherwise! at the automated checkout, there was no queries and both went through at £1.50 each
The shoes in question are the green army-style canvas uppers with white lower/base velcro fasteners priced £3.00 a bargain at £3, even more at £1.50!

Thanks for posting your deal and welcome to MSE!!
What you've discovered is a case of lazy stafferitis. The shoes are reduced further to £1.50 but they haven't bothered (or had time) to stick the new sale sticker on yet. Even if you scan these shoes at a till, they will still come up at £1.50.. this has happened to me loads lately and I love it

This always seems to happen to me when they have the £5 off £25 coupons so that when I go through the till I haven't spent enough to use the voucher!0

What are the handheld scanners? I'd like one of these next time i go to tesco!! Because there is always clothes on the sale rack in my tesco which haven't got a sale price on so i don't buy them.:starmod: May all your wishes come true! :starmod:0

I think they are new thing, they have been rolled out in abingdon tesco's over the last 2 months, they are small wireless devices which you go round and scan your shopping in as you get it and place it in the basket. you then pay at the"quickpay" tills as normal.
THe idea is you can keep a good track on your shopping total as you go, it alerts you to any applicable special offers and tells you if the actual price you'll pay is "slightly" different from whats on the shelve ;-)0 -
Handheld scanners? Woooohoooo! I used to love playing shopping with these at Safeway - I hope our store gets them soon!:heartpuls Mrs Marleyboy :heartpuls
