Is £40 too much for a leather bag?

Hi, after having a cheap bag from the market for £8 and it lasting about two months before the strap breaking, and then getting a leather bag from TJ Hughes for £20 and that showing signs of wear after two weeks (can't be that good leather), I have now just spent £40 on a real leather bag from M&S which seems sturdy and hard wearing.
However, I am now feeling guilty for spending this much on a bag and am thinking of taking it back. Do you think £40 is too much on a bag? I wouldn't spend this much on shoes now but then again I do buy different pairs whereas I only use the same bag every day and only use a different one for nights out so maybe a bit more expensive one will pay off in the long run? Just that I could have used that £40 for a new coat or something.

i think £40 for a leather bag that will last and be used often is a very fair price, i always try to work things out on how many times i'll wear/use the item. My uggs were horrendously expensive but i recently worked out that over 3 years ive worn them for well over half of the year so well over 500 wears so compared to £30 pair of going out shoes ive wore twice.March 2014 Grocery challenge £250.000

Good investment, you'll get loads of wear(and your money's worth) out of it and feel much better carryng a quality bag. Good choice!0

I treated myself to a Tula leather bag in the John Lewis sale in Jan 2009 and my DH was a bit shocked at the £110 tag even in the sale but I have used the bag every day since then and it still looks as good as new
Enjoy your new bag0 -
£40 too much? No definitely not.
I'm not going to say how much I spend on bags :silenced:but it is considerably more than that.0 -
I usually spend around £120-£160 on Radley leather bags so no, I don't think £40 is too much to pay for a leather bag that you will use everyday.0

i think £40 is pretty cheap for a good leather bag, however i myself couldnt justify spending any more tha that. ive bought two "investment" bags from tkmaxx for around £40 each0
