Interim maintenance assessment

Should the CSA always give you an interim maintenance assessment if you do not supply your partners (NRPP) details.

It is open to debate, but if your partner has never given the details and you go to Appeal, then you will in all probability get the support of the Judge on this point. If on the other hand they have been given out even once then it is a very difficult thing to prove that they will not give them out again, or be expected to do so.

I have had IMA's in the past but my 2 biggie weren't IMA's

    I wonder why?

In our experience they tend to always calculate an IMA if NRPP income/personal details are not divulged - as said just our experience tho

There are 2 different types of IMA's. IMA A is a penalty assessment. IMA B is what is calculated when partner details are not provided.

I don't think it matters much these days, but before one of the rule changes, not supplying partner details meant the allowed housing costs were affected, and this did make a difference to the assessment.

Yes it is documented they wouldn't do an IMA A on me as there was a child in the household. Just another couple of points for a bun fight with them.

    Cheers

Sorry to say but I think under CSA 1 there are 3 IMAs, and it matters not if your partner has given information once then you are stuffed! End of.

In this case i would have loved them to give me a IMA so not really stuffed in that sense.

Yes but the 3rd type is and IMA C which relates to a self employed person unable to provide accounts. A penalty assessment can be changed to a proper assessment, an IMA B stands, and an IMA C should be changed after 6 months when the person should have enough trading information to be able to provide profuit/loss details.
