Due to get married

Options
Hi, my partner has a squeaky clean credit file, she has her own house (mortgage).
I was made bankrupt early 2009 (now been released for over a year). I recently moved in with my partner and we are due to get married this year. We are still planning on having separate bank accounts, the mortgage would still be in her name.
My question is, how would us getting married with my poor credit history affect her credit score?
Many thanks for your help.

If you are careful to not have any joint accounts, loans, mortgage, then it will not affect her.

  • Hi, ok thank you for you reply. Would that be the case even if she changed her name with her bank?

    Yes.

Your credit file is individual to you.

The only time yours can affect someone else's is if you create a financial link. Just getting married, sharing a surname, or family relationship is not enough to do that. You must actually hold joint financial products. e.g. a an actual joint account or other form of credit.

One word of caution, make sure she does not get you an additional card for one of her credit cards(if she has any) as that can create a financial link at the agencies.
