  • Aarghh! I have just bought my son a bike £45 and helmet £15 at my local Halfords.

Is it very bad to take them back to the shop, get a refund and then take my voucher and buy it in another Halfords? Are Halfords good with returns? Do I need to come up with an excuse?

Also do you print the voucher off online.

Sorry for so many ?:o Thanks!

  • I bought my son a new bike from the local Halfords store in Peterborough

Asked for it to be built and had a set of LED lights and a mudguard fitted as well (by them) I asked if i could use my voucher off the bike but they said that terms were that you had to pay in full and collect the bike before they could give you the voucher (same ts and cs as website)

    BUT

They then said pay a £10 deposit, come and pick it up , with all accessories fitted and pay for the bike and any accessories LESS £20 , we will take payment then and give you the voucher, we will then say you have £20 outstanding and you give us the voucher back

And that is what they did

Hats off to Halfords and the lads in the Peterborough store for being so helpful and honest and more so having what so many people forget these days - COMMON SENSE

    Cheers Halfords

For those of you thinking about buying bikes as Christmas presents I can highly recommend both wiggle.co.uk and chainreactioncycles.com. They both have a huge selection of bikes and accessories. Both have pretty big discounts on bikes and accessories all year round to so will beat Halfords on price pretty easily.

Wiggle are the biggest online bike retailer and in my opinion the best. You get free postage and best of all you get a 10% discount on all orders over £50. Here's the tricky part. It seems that you still get 10% off any bike that you order but you don't get it in cash. You get 10% of the value of the bike to spend on accessories. So if the bike costs £400 you should get £40 in free accessories.

  • Hooray! Halfords refunded me the money for the helmet with absolutely no problem and then they gave me the voucher and I got the helmet and a water bottle for free! So basically got a bike, helmet and bottle for £45. Merry Christmas!

    Fantastic!

    Many thanks Fuzzrazer once again!
