Your electricity seems very high. I'm on electric only and paying about £75/month. I have economy 7 heating which, like you, goes off in March and comes on around November.

However, there are two of us living in our place - a first floor flat. We have very old sash windows that let a lot of wind through, making it extra chilly in Winter, at which point we put on extra heaters. My OH doesn't work due to health issues and so is at home during the day meaning that either the TV or PC is on, plus extra electricity used for lighting, making cups of tea, etc... Being a first floor flat, we have to tumble dry all the "big" item such as towels and bedding.

On top of that, I have two large fishtanks running too.

£100/month seems very high - have a look round and make sure you're getting the best deal.

you could also cut presents....but harsh but people will undestand! £20 per month = £240 a year

also if you have garden or balcony could always grow lettuce and stuff like that to save pennies

sell clothes and stuff on ebay/carboot market for extra cash

£80 a month on petrol seems alot..is it worth getting a tesco/co op/nectar card to get points to reclaim on presents etc...

    a few suggestions :)
been away for a while..need to get on financial track!

    Hi

Your old type windows (and doors) are probably letting in a couple of gales worth of fresh cold air each day. Go round and work out how to stop the gaps and do it.

What sort of floor do you have?

And I bet you are heating upstairs a treat, what sort of insulation is in the ceiling void?
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing
  • hi , yes i have already done the gap thing as i suffer from cold , i am a skinney old git lol

but as for the void its a converted house into 2 flats and was done in the 80's so no filling just like it was when it was a house

tried to get landlord to sort this 3years ago and not interested as normal ,

so stuck here and got to try & make most of it as now my credit rating has gone bad and cannot get another rental property well i can but with huge deposit as mentioned earlier

oh yea ive been on the council list for 14 years lol will never get one of them places , and yes i do bid and reregister every 6 months but to no avail ,

am thinking going down the dmp route calling cccs today

Bit of an update , a year and 5 months on i have told cccs to stop acting on my behalf as i was lead to believe they would negotiate a new payment scheme and interest rate ,
just had last statement and and review was due, my balance was nearly £3k out on their assesment ,
When i spoke to cccs yesterday they recomended i go B/R or to write letters to my creditors to reduce my interest?????????
i could of done that in the beggining myself but could'nt face at the time due to life throwing six's at me like it does,
any how i have decided to take over myself and negotiate with creditors ,
Not blaming cccs for the mess i got into , but i wish they had made that clear to me which they did not at the time , so year and a half wasted due to high interest ,
