Breadmaker flour

What is the best flour you've found to use in your breadmaker. I know to use breadflour, but which brand gives the best results?

So far I've just used Doves Farm - (I use organic). Anyone know better?

Comments

  • I get the best results with organic flour I get from our local windmill. If I can't get there on the days that it is open, I buy ASDA strong flour, but the other day they were out so I tried Carrs. It was more expensive than the ASDA but was much nicer IMO.

I have also used the strong flour from Aldi's (it was fine) but ours no longer stocks it...

I`ve used Carrs, hovis, allinson, asda`s own,all roughly about the same quality, the only difference I can see is the price.

We have had good results with the bread flour from Lidl but they do not sell Wholemeal, so we get that from Morrison's.

    We like a 50%/50% loaf.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • i use tesco value four and that works fine. its about 30p a bag!

  • I too use Doves Farm organic but sometimes when I'm about to run out I mix it with the 49p one from Lidl and to be honest me and my family can't tell the difference.

I use Lidl too and my bread is lovely. I was looking into buying it direct from a mill listed in my "changing the way you shop, cook and eat" book as it is much healthier. However, I emailed them to ask which flour was best for a breadmaker and they never replied. so I may just carry on with the Lidl.

I found a site which told you the best flour from which supermarket or mill for the best bread, on it was a photo of a room with about 8 or 10 breadmakers in it,but my computer crashed and it was lost. It's out there some place, I remember on the page I was on was a panel no the right, with a link that I pressed. I think we all should have this information to get the best bread for the best price.Happy hunting.
