TQ that would be an option if it was an old banger, but its an 05 renault scenic and my very kind step dad paid 2k to buy us the beneficial interest in it, so we wouldn't lose the car in our BR !
Still, its going on a diagnostic unit on friday then we will find out for definite what work needs doing. Will just have to keep it off the road till we can afford the repairs.
On the positive side more walking for me might shift some of my excess weight0 -

oh no, crikey, you don't expect big problems with newish cars...eek and double eeek!!
one idea...is there a local college which does motor mechanics courses? a friend of mine teaches on one, and they offer quite competitive prices on repairs, although obviously they tend to only be able to do fairly basic stuff.Getting fit for 2013 - Starting weight 10.1.13 88.1kg
