Working as a Freelancer - Please Help!

Hi everyone,
I am currently working full time (37.5hrs per week) but I have an opportunity to work as a freelancer doing training to increase my monthly salary. My hours are not guaranteed but I will be aiming to work 2 days per month and I could earn anything between £75 -150 per day. As a trainer I will need Civil Liability & Professional Indemnity insurance but I am unsure if I need to take anything else out to cover my freelance activities. In regards to tax what can claim for (other than petrol and clothes)?
I have searched this site but I could not find any threads covering this topic.
I am unsure how this will affect my tax, NI etc., so any help regarding this would be much appreciated.
Thanks in advance of your replies!

Assuming that the company providing the opportunity to work as a freelancer is a different company from the one that is currently employing you full time, then the main thing you have to do is notify HMRC immediately you start. Then find yourself a decent local accountant who'll keep you on the straight and narrow.0
