Hi everyone,
me and hubby have been with the co-op since becoming br (discharged 11th May 10). Could you please tell me if there is an alternative for post BR?
Dont get me wrong I am ok with the co-op but now we are getting our credit files sorted etc i would like to have the option of a mainstream bank account (no overdraft of course!!). Would be nice to have an online account that is up to date for a start:mad:
By the way, Barclays is not an option for us
Thanks

Try lloyds if they turn you down for the current they could offer the basic account that is reported as a full current account on your credit file. The card is a proper visa debit unlike the CO-Op electron card however the only downside is you have to use Lloyds TSB ATMS. The internet banking is not basic like CO-OP and is up to date.0

Is Co-op internet banking basic? There is nothing I could do with my old Lloyds or Halifax accounts that I can't do with the Co-op...0

See I prefer the co-op's system to Lloyds! I really struggled to get on with the Lloyds one when I had it and find the co-ops really easy to use, and I can do everything I need to.
As I have said before I will be sticking with the co-op, I am happy with them and don't see the need to move tbh.0 -
it'll be very difficult to find another bank that offers a standard account while the bankruptcy sits on files for 6yrs
took me 3yrs after discharge to secure a natwest account...should have been a basic step one but in the end turned out to be a full account small o/d etc
why is barclays not an option?
...and for the record? I agree with others didnt find the online bits with the co-op a hassle, if I wanted an up to date balance I always rang to check...and their cashminder account now has a full visa bebit card NOT electronWe all die. When you used you debit card it does not show up for days on the account so you just have to remember that you used the card or you could end up overdrawn. The internet banking is slow when you transfer money into C0-OP it takes at least 20 minutes for it to show up unlike HSBC and Lloyds which is instant.
I use HSBC and LLoyds as well as CO-OP so I can see the differences when I am doing internet banking However customer service is very good at CO-OP much better than LLoyds.0 -

Don`t agree there, my transfers show up almost immediately and is just as good as my HSBC and Nationwide accounts were.:pB&SC No. 298

Thanks Phil. The only reason Barclays not an option is because it was a creditor. I think I will hang on for another year or so then try.
I have no intention of finishing my account with the co-op, I just want to branch out soon and get another account as I think it looks better on your file. Thanks again;)Discharged May 20100 -
Barclays after bankruptcy will offer a basic account with visa card even if they were a past creditor...they did with me & they were one of the largest creditors I had
