Getting money back - debtor's address unknown

Hello,
I was wondering if someone could help me on that. In short there is a person who owes me about £1000, which money should have been paid back 2 years ago. I have an interest free loan agreement form signed by him, know his date of birth, where he worked at the time of the agreement and even have a picture of him.
Long time ago I tried to contact him by phone (no longer have the number) and more recently by both ordinary and recorded letters. No response.
Now I would like to take the matter to court or use a service of a debt collection agency, preferably the former. The only problem is that he may have moved out.
In such case can I still make a court claim and somehow they will take care of the rest (it's probably foolish to even think so) or should I first verify the residence address of that person? If the latter holds then how can I do it?
Thanks!

You would need an address to be able to serve notice of intention to take court action as well as the court claim itself I'm afraid.

have a look on facebook, twitter, myspace etc, for any clues to current home / work location..-
may be able to write to employer, for an attachment on their earnings? the embarrasment factor alone may get a response!
the online www.BT.com phone directory may also help, if an unusual name..?Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..

Thank you for your responses. I used an online electoral roll search service but didn't get any valuable information. The only conclusion I could draw was that the person wasn't living there any more. Sadly the name seems to be far too common to make phonebook or facebook investigation feasible. I gave both a go anyway and got over 500 results on facebook. I don't know his current employer so I cannot achieve much here either.
Maybe it's worth to use specialist service? The place I used for the electoral roll search (that costed me a fiver) offers people tracing for ~£30 and they say that they only charge if they find the person.0
