What can they take as earnings?

I really need help, my husband has a son by his ex wife to start with she tried claiming for 2 kids but we got a dna test done come back as only one is his, we now have two lovely children together and csa are still asking for money, my husband lost his job may 2009 and i have been supporting him and the family we get my earnings and child and working tax credit thats all and the csa are saying they want money because we get CHILD TAX CREDIT ie they going to take it from there can they do this? how can they take money a gouverment pay a family to help support a family and csa take that away to give to another family who also gets child tax credit?

    They take child tax credit because it is always deemed to be income of the NRP.

    I have bought this up in another thread myself. Its disgusting but apparently on csa2 they can do this!! I (and a few others) have written to David Cameron. Maybe you could join us? The more who write and bring this to his attention, the better chance we have of something getting done about it! I'm just awaiting a response as we speak :)
    On another note, apparently this is being changed from April 2011, but thats just info I got from reading up on it on here, so not 100% on that one.

  • I totally agree and would be interested in joining the petition. I am NRPP and my new partner is on low earnings but they use my CTC and it is draining us financially - and not only that, we're facing a 40% payment because he has arrears built up from before he even lived with me.
    I phoned the CTC office about this and the lady I spoke to was horrified and was unaware of this.
