Does anybody know how to put forward a challenge on current banding?0

I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I had a reply yesterday and again I have been turned down, although I could not give them a exact date of the small extension, that is the reason they are giving.
In 2003 I had a garden room built onto the side of the earlier extension, which looks as though it was all built at the same time, I am now going to try and double check when the original kitchen was done. Then I will check with them that they haven't included the garden room which was added in 2003. As the original officer did not discuss very much with me on her visit or ask many questions I feel it is all about "off the cuff".0 -

Hello,
It's been a while but I've heard back my appeal was a success my bungalow has been rebanded as a Band B. So I'd just like to say thanks for all the helpful posts. Its made a difference of almost £200 a year which is great.0 -

Well done, great start to life in your new home.If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -
I know it seems a bit cheeky, but I have just checked the council tax band for my new home and it is lower than my previous home. I have done the checks and we should have been perhaps in band A but we were paying band B price...
Does anyone know if we can reclaim for the previous year at my old flat?
Thank you0 -
TessaLynn - you will have to ask the new occupiers of your old home to appeal against the band. If they are successful then providing they are aware of your current address, the council will refund any CT overpayment. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

They are renovating - the property had serious damp - so there are no occupiers!0
