free:water saving devices

I have just recieved two free hippo bags through the post which save up to 3 litres of water with every flush of the toilet.

If you are a south staffs water customer just click on this link and there is a form to fill in at the bottom of the page to request hippo bags and save a flush bags - which are similar.

Hope this helps - we are on a meter so any savings will be noticed!!!

or you could just put a couple of bricks in your sistern
  • if that works - but sorry , id never heard of that. These are just special bags, so theres no chance of them breaking up and blocking your whole system!

I've got 2 hippos in my cistern.

    And a brick!

Still seems to use too much water though.

from anglian water you can get a Freddie Frog free, dose the same thing as above. i was a bit disapointed when it didnt resemble a frog and was just a bottle you fill with sand.

I got one before, but it looked dodgy, does it actually work?
  • whereabouts in the sytem do you put the bricks? and is it safe?

and also does the flush work jut as effectively?
  • All this is is a type of plastic bag that you place in the sistern to use less water, I have not tried it yet but I do have save a flush bags in the sistern, which you can also get from the above link, they are gel filled bags which balloon up in the water and save 1 litre per flush, these work very well - Im sure much better than a brick!!!

It does say on the site that the hippo would be more useful in older sisterns - not the very modern ones, so maybe you should look at the site and decide which is best for you. Good luck x
