Council Tax of new built flats

Hi there,

I purchased a flat new built over a year ago and its a C band council tax. I have a 2 bed on the canal and it has a parking space. there are flats across the road that have been there about 7-10 years which are only a band B and are the same spec.

Do you think I have a case to present to the council that I'm being over charged as are the other residents in my block?

Thanks

Unless you are in Scotland, you need to speak the Valuation Office Agency. Without knowing exact differences between the two blocks it's difficult to say what the outcome would be. If the other block is not on the canalside, then this could be the reason. Your block may be seen as superior to the other. It is worth pursuing just to find out why the difference in banding.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales
