Thank you for the encouragement, I think I was feeling a bit lonely and, indeed petulant (it reads that way anyway)
anyway I need to find that credit agreement asap and see what is going on- havn't had chance this evening as I just stopped working.I
t looks like we may be better off putting the extra cash into one of CC's rather than struggle to settle the Clydesdale one now.
We had a stack of stuff finish on ebay tonight- and it did quite well. :money:
More uploaded to take the opportunity of 10p listing day. Some has been listed before and not sold but thought it was worth a 10p punt
off to bed now- night night everyoneProud to be dealing with my debtsDebt @ LBM £50819.89 30/9/06:eek:

bad news this month- the total went up:mad:
£50,543
I know why, there were lots of expenses some expected, some not, but I feel really down now.
It doesn't help that OH just doesn't seem to get it. All the right words are said but when I seem to watch every penny OH doesn't even seem to want to know the balance on an account until it's time to spend then I have to tell him.
I'm going to try and get him interested in matched betting over the Christmas break, maybe he will grasp that quickly and be able to explain to this dumb blonde how it works.
It doesn't help that my business is quiet right now, at busy times I can make significant money but this isn't one of them.
OK I feel a list of stuff I can do coming up....
I'll do some work while I think about it, then post a list. I always feel better when I take some positive action

More bad news-ish
Total £51359.88
however I'm not actually too worried this month, that figure is for the day before payday, so worst case scenario and doesn't take into account that DD bought a very expensive item just before Christmas (she had saved for it) but to make it a safer transaction we bought it for her on a CC that had zero balance, she will be paying it off, incurring no interest for us, and she has the protection of having bought on a CC and we get the &more points...;)
The other thing which really messed up last month-not counting Christmas, that messes everyone up to a degree- was OH expenses, they were not paid until he got his wage this week but should have been paid before Christmas. So that isincluded in the debt total too- it's going to make the next update look really good!
So all in all we haven't made any inroads into the debt- but we haven't gone further into debt either.
Some positives though- Made the insulated blind I has promised myself
- Started matched betting- just strarted though so no profits yet
- Persuaded a family member to open and Alliance and Leicester account (£50 referral payment coming my way soon)
- Continued Pigsback OH and I have had £60 worth of vouchers sincee starting at the end of september
- Used a cheap deal from Vodafone to connect our family phones so calls between us will cost £5 total no matter how many times we call each other.
So for the next month I really need to keep on top of things and not let stuff slide. A sensible month with food shopping and keeping travel to a minimum is the target.

A not very exciting update but I am quietly pleased that we just increases our outgoings.
Yes I know it's wierd, but it means we have now taken income protection insurance for OH, and have CANCELLED PPI on the cards we had it on.
It has brought our DFD date down by over a year- how cool is that?
The peace of mind is worth the relatively small amount we are paying- if OH looses his job or becomes ill we have all the bills covered for 12 months before we need to worry too hard. The essentails will be covered, like council tax and untitiy bills and if we can't pay the CC's then we can negotiate with them. As it stood the CC's would have been paid but nothing else.
Matched betting is going slowly but well, we are oh, so cautious about every bet! and it does mean some of our money is hanging about in betfair £260 to be exact, but we have made £125 so far including the quidco matched betting profits.
We need to leave a reasonable amount in betfair at the moment as the next bet will probably have a high lay value.
So no massive news but I'm chipping away it all.:T

A good week all round!
Checked my online bank accounts and the £50 bank incentive has been credited for "introducing" someone to my bank ( a family member who will have got the same amount- whoohoo for both of us)
A Customer has done a direct bank transfer to pay for a job and rounded it up by £5, with the bonus that it costs me less as it was an electronic thingy rather than paying in a cheque or cash. Not alot but every little helps.:rotfl:
Then the biggie
Natwest have agreed to refund my bank charges- just over £1000. I posted back the acceptance letter on Tuesday so now I'm just waiting for the dosh!
That will clear my OD (The higher interest rate)and go a way towards the joint OD.
No matched betting done for a while though- life has been...hectic

Hi itswhat
I haven't seen your diary before and read it all. Hooray!!! about the bank charges - well done!
On the A&L incentives - I recently had a 'review' with them in return for a £25 cashback - I think they are offering this to all customers so if you haven't done this, do! Even though they do scare you half to death with lurid speculations about what would happen to your kids if you were unable to work.... this is something I feel very vulnerable about, but also convinced deep down that no insurance policy would actually ever pay out.
So I'm interested in your income protection insurance - if you don't mind my asking, how did you research this?
Cheers and keep posting, I'll look out for your thread

thank you for reading my DFW diary, probably dull as ditchwater but it helps me to report the little sucesses along the way.
I'll watch out for an A&L review, I like free money and I'm not eaily scared. Having lived in a family hwer Dad was in and out of work - out a lot of the time, due to ecomic circumstances of living in the North in the late 70's early 80's I know what happens to the kids if you don't work- they get less.
The research for the Income protection policy was done on this site... where else:p ?
This article in particular
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/cgi-bin/viewnews.cgi?newsid1076369501,83567,
However I did then go off and google for income protection, but I couldn't find anything else which matched our needs. I'm self employed so we just wanted something to cover OH, I've not found anything for me yet. Plus it's probably not really worth the cost. If we can reduce the debts my income becomes less important and can be used for <gasp> savings:rolleyes:
I'm looking forward to updating my signature when the Bank charges money arrives.Proud to be dealing with my debtsDebt @ LBM £50819.89 30/9/06:eek:

hi again
not dull as ditchwater! as a dfw nerd myself I find the diaries fascinating!
I received an email from A&L about the review but when I went into the branch there was a poster on the wall as well and definitely said the offer stood for all customers. You also get extra incentive payments if you take out any of the products they are pushing (life insurance I think).
My OH and I are both self-employed so I'm not optimistic about any kind of insurance working for us. I am scared though as two of my siblings have recently had months off work with different complaints. Luckily their employers paid sick pay but if that was me we'd be defaulting left right and centre the very first month.
My tactic is not to think about it and to try and focus on getting the debts down.
Good luck with your effortsTotal debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620 -
Mumble mumble grump:mad:
Last month cancelled PPI on two credit cards, Goldfish and Egg, with Goldfish no problems they just sent a letter saying it was cancelled. Fine.
Egg however... they sent a letter too, saying it would be cancelled 1 month after the date of their letter (ours said effictive immediately)
Now I can't call them as it's DH's account, although I deal with the finances/pay bills /deal with post.
The letter has been sat there for 10 days now without him doing anything about it. When I ask him to he just sighs and says he doesn't feel up to it right now and he will do it tomorrow/later.
I'm really annoyed that i'm trying hard to sort out the mess we got ourselves inot and he won't make one rotten call that could save us money. There is also the small issue of Egg increasing the interest rate too so I would like him to try and wangle a lower a rate but he won't and of course they won't speak to me.
rant over, it's OK you can come from behind the sofa now everyone.
Other stuff is going well now, the bank charges refund got paid in so that's one overdraft down and part of the other gone. The plan now is to reduce the size of the overdraft by at least £50 per month.
Work is getting busier again so I'm earning dosh , speaking of which- back to the grindstone
Ta ta
