MFI and other perpetual sales

I guess this applies to many stores that have perpetual sales where one time limited offer is replaced by another but better offer ...

Anyone whose recently ordered from MFI may have paid more than they need to.

MFI have recently been running a "Half price + VAT free" price promotion which ended 9th Feb, this has now been replaced by a "Half price + 20% off" promotion - making prices considerably cheaper.

So if you've placed an order recently at the higher prices you may want to contact MFI and see what they want to do about it.

I guess a couple of options would be to just cancel and reorder.

If you ordered online ... wait for the items to be delivered and return them within 7 days for a refund. You could even place a new order at the new lower price for the same goods and return the first order when it turns up within 7 days (the 7 day distant selling rule applies from the date of delivery).

If you've taken delivery within the last 7 days you have time to obtain redres.

Tips:
Order online, not through a shop to get the benefit of the 7 day return rule.
Don't know if you have the same option if you buy through a shop.

Set delivery date close to or after the end date of the current promotion.
Use the benefit of the 7 day rule and check current prices for upto 7 days after delivery in case the items are cheaper.

Anyone haggled with MFI for best price offer?

    Hi,

I have been considering MFI and have had many people tell me that their quality is not up to standard and that the cupboards would die in 2 years from normal wear and tear.

Any comments will be most appreciated.

For non MFI branded items like mattresses (Rest Assured, Silent Night etc.) their prices with free delivery do appear to be very good compared to other retailers.

Remember that this will be half price THEN 20% off the remaining price, ie a total of 60% not 50% plus 20% = 70%

Also put stuff together from Ikea and MFI recently. Happy with both eventually. Ikea - lousy instructions, poor finish on two part (storage centre and side board). The MFI stuff (3 wardrobes, 1 5 draw chest and 2 bedside cabinets) now assembled is absolutely great. The main problem was with delivery with MFI - 1st delivery 5 items to follow, 2nd delivery 3 items to follow, 3rd delivery 1 item to follow. Apart from 1st and 2nd delivery they didn't let us know they were coming. It took 3 months to have full delivery. We couldn't assemble anything apart from b/s cabinets as we didn't have a whole set. After 2nd delivery we should have been able to assemble apart from plinths. 3 side panels were damaged on wardrobe, top of chest damage. They offered us a discount to keep but we asked for replacement. The replacements were fine. Trouble is they haven't collected damaged items. Now have a damaged but complete 5 draw chest just missing draw fronts, 3 wardrobe side panel. Rung to ask if they want them back but they do not return my call. Anyone know where I can get draw front??? :)

Even if I say so myself - they look fantastic now finished. From past experience with MFI if properly assemble they will last well. Trouble comes if you try to disassemble them and move. All in you will find it hard to buy the same quantity and quality at their prices.

Our current wardrobes are from MFI they are about 5 years old now and survived being dismantled when we moved, they are good quality but they werent cheap.

The cheap MFI wardrobes are crap quality and well avoided , we looked a some for our daughters room they looked great nice wood doors but as we got closer the carcus was MDF urrgh and flimsy drawer bases really really bad.

So the saying goes but not completely true. I've installed MFI fitted wardobes and kitchen and found the quality to be fine. Or anyway as good as you can expect from chipboard furniture, MFI is obviously not up to top expensive snob Italian kitchen. Yes they do sell crap but also good stuff you just have to use judgement and not be obessed with finding cheapest thing in shop.

Sorry to be dim, but how would you be able to gain redress if you had accepted delivery in the last 7 days? I ask as we have just accepted delivery of something from them & in true MSE style I want to make sure I have made the most of my money.

Also bought from MFI recently in their half price + 20% off.

I too had also heard the stories about MFi but decided to give them a go as there is only so much ikea furniture you can have in your house I thought.

Price was ok - furniture is certainly sturdy enough and we really like it now that it is in place. Delivery, not good. Came in two deliveries. Quality of furniture not as good as I expected - especially the back of the wardrobes that seem to be made from some flimsly woodlike card! Husband found them a nightmare to contstruct.

Complained to MFI about the quality and got £15 back. Hardly anything but better than nothing!

Upshot it I would not buy again from MFI. I just don't think the stuff is anywhere near the quality of ikea products.

For goods already delivered the options are a bit limited as you may need the facility of returning the goods ...

If it was an online order you have 7 days from the date of delivery in which you can return the goods for a refund for any reason.
But just checking the terms and conditions you have to pay the return delivery charge. :(
So depends on the savings involved if its worth it - a £586 item is now £30 cheaper than it was at the beginning of the week.
Check the MFI web site for the current prices - you have to place the items in the basket and then see what discount is applied.

If you purchased in store check the terms and conditions regarding refunds - says on the web site you can return goods to the store.
Again depends on the savings involved .... and if it's a realistic option to get the goods back to the store! ...
...so may be worth try enquiring and suggest that you'll do so ... see if they offer anything.

May be too much hassle for the savings involved but for goods already oredered but not delivered you can just cancel and reorder.
