i wanna know if my cat

I have just got a cat from a rescue home. she's gone behind the cooker. it's gas with a hob. I need to use it to cook my cassarole. Is it safe to use if she's behind it. I don't want to roast her. Will she come out if it starts getting hot. or will she be gassed? Or do I have to get take away????
HOW MUCH ?

I am sure she will come out of it gets too warm for her, she wont get gassed otherwise you would too.

You could try to coax her out with some treats or some string, but I wouldnt worry about it.

Seems she is still a bit wary, see if there is somewhere dark and quiet you can put her with something that smells of you near by for a while.

  • She's right. You're new little one is in no danger of getting gassed ... maybe a bit dusty at best! *smile* Well done you to give this baby a new home. She'll come out when she's a bit more settled. She's frightened right now ... new home, new sounds, new smells.

Speak softly to her and don't let her know your worried. Animals are very keen at sensing our feelings. Let her know she's safe and loved.

I hope you have years of love and cuddles together! Good luck!
  • my cat is now coming out from behind the cooker. she is getting quite adventuress and kept us up all night wanting attention. eventually at about 5 she settled on my sons bed. Thanks for you help.

Your original post really made me smile, thanks.

I'm glad she has come out from behind the cooker, cats do get into some unlikely places at times.
The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.

I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.

she comes out quite a lot now but still goes back there to sleep. as you can imagine it's filthy back there. if she ever got stuck we would have to rip out the cupboards to get back there. once she's more settled my hubbies going to block it up. there's plenty more safer places she can hide.

:) Aw bless!! We used to have a floor safe, which had an opening of about 6 inches across and whenever we left the lid off for more than a couple of minutes one of the cats went in. It used to worry me to death that the lid would be put back on and we wouldn't realise she was there.
It was funny to see her, the safe wasn't big around but it was quite deep and she had a job to curl up, but she loved it in there :rotfl:
I let my mind wander and it never came back!
  • The floor safe one made me laugh :rotfl:

Mine like to climb into the tumble drier as I'm busy carrying washing into the living room to sort. I have closed the door (this was before I realised what they were doing) to hear a mewing about 5 minutes later and was all over the kitchen looking before I realised where it was coming from. One toastie cat emerged from the drier (no, it wasn't on, just still a touch warm).

Now I check it every time I load/unload it. They still try it!

bet the back of your cooker is less dusty than it was before you got her!!

Nice to hear she's settling in.:j

We've recently adopted a kitten who turned up on our neighbour's garage roof, no-one claimed her despite our best efforts, had her spayed, chipped, vaccinated so she's ours now, as long as she wants to stay.

I'd forgotten how wonderful kittens are, a great laugh, although I nearly had a heart attack when I saw her hangin upside down from our cherry tree today. Hubby ran out and saved her, the one who saw her at first and said 'we're no keepin' her!:A Lovely!
