Illamasqua Make Up

Hello Gals!

I'm after a new foundation. Currently my favs are EL Double Wear and Guerlain Aqua Parure...but they are pricey, especially the Guerlain.

After searching the net to try something different I came across Kryolan. Although they are well known for manufacturing stage make up they do a couple of ranges for us non-thespians too!

I quite fancy their Ultra Foundation...

Not many GB companies tend to stock this brand.

Further research has lent me to find Illamasqua. Guess who manufactures it? Yep! Kryolan.

It is aimed at taking MAC head on as a rival!

And we have the problem of selecting the right shade of foundation over the net. Difficult.

So has any one tried Kryolan and Illamasqua?

Thanks :)

    Hi Sensemaya
I too would be interested to hear whether or not anyone else has used this brand. I am still trying to find the perfect foundation.

I use Illamasqua concealer and foundation. I only wear foundation when I go out, but love it, the concealer is fab, and I'm very fair so it's the perfect colour

Just got back from the Trafford Centre after a fabulous make over.

Unlike the MAC artistes I have dealt with in the past - their attitude is usually what do you want, buy it as quickly as possible and let me deal with another customer - they were very friendly and spent quite a lot of time with me deciding on the correct foundation.

We tested the rich foundation...very thick and despite me being, ahem,a mature lady, it would have been too heavy. We then tried the powder foundation...great for evening...and the light liquid.

She then removed the lot to start the make over proper.

    How is that for service?

Told her that MAC had decided I was an NW20, but I thought it was too light. We plummed for the liquid foundation in LF 215 and it's great. Staying power is good as I tend to find foundation comes off my forehead.

I ended up purchasing the light liquid and powder foundations plus their concealer in UC 210. You can also use this to set your lippie.

She did a marvellous job on my eyes and gave me lots of hints.:T

I'm going to do my eyes first and then apply the foundation hence the concealer instead of slapping on the foundation first.

So I have now decided every time I need some foundation I'm going to book a make over.

Only thing is I feel sorry for my credit card now...

I just wish Kryolan was more widely available as information on the Net says that the eye shadows, blushers etc are very similar to Kryolan, but Kryolan is a lot cheaper.

    I can heartily recommend a make over,Bobble.

Are they in Selfridges? And when they do the makeover, do they do it at the counter so everyone in the shop can see, or is it more private?

Hi. Yes, they are in Selfridges ( Orient - I eventually parked in section 10 near the Lions ) and do the make over at the counter. They are next to the MAC counter!

The only other place that I know of that sell Illamasqua in Manchester is:

    http://www.wigsupnorth.co.uk/

You have to phone them to book an appointment and I would expect it is more private.
  • I use Ilmasqua.

I have their foundation, eye shadows, brushes, lipglosses and have used their false eyelashes.

I attended a burlesque evening and reps from Ilmasqua were there giving out free makeovers so I went along and absolutely loved it.

I can't fault them, the products really last a long time, their eyeshadow is so vibrant with good pigment that I'm finding I've hardly made a dent in it and believe me I've been using it a lot.

The same can be said for their lipgloss. When it's on, it stays on, as do their false eyelashes.

The only advice I would give is to be carful with the shade of foundation you choose, it is possible to go too pale.

What the consultants can do with the makeup is nothing short of fabulous.

Update: The make up came off really easy with Nars cleansing oil. Easily applied the liquid foundation this morning with my MAC 187. I JUST LOVE IT! The colour is just right, it's feels lovely and light on the skin and the staying power is just as good as when the lady applied it yesterday.

Haven't used the concealer yet as I'm just wearing mascara today.

Have to say though the lip gloss is no different to any other, but that's just my experience. Got so many lippies and I think the Illamasqua lipstick is rather expensive.

But overall it's an excellent brand and the service is second to none.

Sweetie - Are you a northern gal too?

I know the MAC counter in Selfridges in the TC. Haven't been there for at least 6 months so I assume Illamasqua came in fairly recently, as it wasn't there last time.

Just read your latest post, glad you like it so much !
