Turkey mince - does it usually have a smell?

Hello helpful old stylers
Quick question please. I got some turkey mince recently for the first time, I usually use lean beef or pork. I froze it and then defrosted it in the fridge over 24 hours. I opened it this morning and it had a definite smell about it. I wouldn't say it was unpleasant, just lingering. It was also fairly wet although I am comparing it to beef/pork.
It has been in the slow cooker all day and I am not at home yet to check it. Any views on whether it is safe or am I risking it?
I am just a little concerned as I haven't used it before.
Many thanks

I know what you mean
Turkey mince can smell different from beef, and often is wetter IYSWIM
As long as you've frozen it soon after purchase, and the freezer hasn't malfunctioned, it should be fine
I'll add this to the Food Safety thread later to keep ideas together.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
