Need some help with the Oxford University Press quiz on day 4 of the Advent calendar.
I have 3 of the 4 required answers:
1 - what is the ‘Mae West’ that got Mae West into the dictionary?
c. A Lifejacket
2 - what is the expected response to the 13th-century greeting ‘wassail’?
B. Drink-Hail
3- in 1598 the traveller Jan van Linschoten dined on ‘rice, which they seeth in broth … and is somewhat sowre but it tasteth well, and is called ...’ What? (Hint: Search the timeline for 'sowre')
C. Curry
Having trouble with question 4:
what date does the OED give for the launch of ‘rocket’ as a word?
As far as I can see the answer is 1566

The only options given are 1556, 1557 and 1558.
Is it possible to do a main board thread for that comp then i can link it in here, as there seems to be q's every day xx Thanks#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I will remove it, but they were posted on here as they part of their advent comps, thats what this thread is for, It's not to tread on anyones toes, just to keep all the advents in one place x
No worries, I've spent the last 5 hours trying to work out this advent thread and get myself organised! Don't even think I'm halfway yet. Thanks to your hard work for compiling at all!0 -
There's an advent competition at Lovecreative. It doesn't have a prize everyday and entries are open for longer than one day.
Am I supposed to create a thread for the entire advent and link it here or post each competition as a separate thread with individual end date?
Today's competition is for tickets to a Manchester City home game. Closing date 10/12.0 -
Thanks i'll add that, that way we wont miss any of the prize dates, threads are only needed if there is a daily question xx I don't think this has a question so shouldn't need a thread xx
The idea is there will be less clutter on the board come 24th dec(xmas eve) for bgs to clear up and by only having answer threads on the board, it keeps this thread more manageable xxxxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -

Todays competiton on the Morrisons advent calendar has (I think - as it bounced back:eek:)an incorrect email address. It should be competitions@limemovies.co.uk (which didn't bounce).:T0

Today's prize (7 Dec.) for the Potteries advent is a £45 voucher to spend at The Box (jewellery). Must collect from the Potteries, Stafford. http://www.potteries.uk.com/24days_7thDecNever put tables and chairs in the same room.
If they congregate together for any length of time, they will inevitably hatch plots against you and your pets.
