should i claim or not?

hi all, really stuck with what to do so any help would be fab.

me and my ex husband split up last august and he agreed to give me £150 a month for our daughter which i accepted, then at xmas he stopped giving me anything as he no longer worked( which was a lie) for the past 3 months ive recived £80 month paid into my bank from him as he is working as a pizza deliverer. in sept he text me to say he was changing jobs so the payment date would change which was fine. he said he would be working pt and earning 650ish a month

a friend contacted me saying he had put on his facebook that he works for arriva trains, also saw he a few late nights a 2 in the morning finishing from the station. ive asked what he does for work and was told he helps at his brothers shop 2 days a week.

yesturday my daughter came home from school and said someone had told her that she was going to be a big sister she was rather shocked to say the least.

my concern now is that he will stop giving any money towards his daughter so wondered if i went through the csa would be better. i really think he is earning a lot more than what he says but have no proof.

also does the csa take anything off his payments for them selves?

sorry to go on but dont no what to do.

thanks

  • Go to the CSA. They are a massive pain in the neck, but you have given him the opportunity to pay by private arrangement and he has chosen to mess you about.

The sooner you contact them, the sooner you will get the maintenance.

No, the CSA doesn't take anything for it's trouble (there's a loaded word to use in teh same sentence as CSA if ever there was one!) so anything you're entitled to will come through to you in full.

If he's working for Arriva Trains, you can tell them this, along with providing contact details for your ex. Hopefully, your ex will co-operate and you'll get what your daughter is due. If he doesn't, you're in for a long ride but frankly, you're no worse off than if he was messing you around, are you?
  • thanks very much for the replys both of you, youve helped me loads. will start the ball rolling tomorrow.

    thanks again xx
