On CSA 2, no you don't, but they may ask for your tax credit info as all child tax credits are classed as your husband's income and if he earns more than you, the working tax credits will be too.

Edited to add, that's assuming you receive child tax credits as well as WTC.

  • thanks , waiting to hear about tax credits, not sure what we will get, partner earns 29000 i earn 11 so dont think it will be much if anything and not sure what part it will be, we have 1 child that will now be taken into account on the assement that wasnt before so on my understanding of the system it should either lower the csa payment by a smidge or they will stay about the same, is that right?

Yeah, on that combined income you wont get much tax credits.

Now you have a child, they will reduce the NET INCOME of your husband by 15% first, so it should reduce a little, unless the tax credits cancel it out.

  • You need to make sure they are aware of the child in the household, it's not automatic. If not already done, ring them with your child reference number which you get when child benefit payments start. They will look at any tax credits as being his income, since he is the higher earner. And regardless of what information you give the CSA, they are not allowed to pass it on to the PWC because the Data Protection Act protects your information - all she should get is a letter showing the total assessable income used for the calculation, no details of what is earned and what is tax credits etc.

Unfortunately they are rubbish at keeping to the data protection laws and there have been several posters just on here who have had the "other person's" details on their forms they've received from the CSA. They're supposed to blank it out but they don't always.
