Cancelled EasyJet Barcelona-Belfast flight 19th Sept - any refunds?

Hi - Just wondering if there are any moneysavers who were booked on the cancelled EasyJet Barcelona-Belfast flight 19th Sept 2010?

Any luck getting your money back?

Just to let you know that I and my friends all got the €400 per passenger compensation under the EC 261/2004 regulations - so make sure you claim!

I haven't been able to get the money back we shelled out to fly from Gatwick - Belfast (which the girl in the airport said we could reclaim) - has anyone had any luck with that?

For any interested readers, not lucky enough to stand in the 3 hour queue at BCN to experience this: We got told the next Belfast flight wasn't until Wed 22nd Sept and we could get a flight to Gatwick the next day and then fly from Gatwick to Belfast, pay them for it there and then and be able to reclaim that money online... No such luck.

I'll probably not persue the refund any further (they wear you down) but was just wondering if anyone managed to get their money back for the "extra" flight they had to take...?

  • Hi Johnny,my wife and 2 year old son and myself had the same experience for that flight. We were offered a flight to Liverpool instead with a choice of two flights to Belfast that evening. We too were told that while we might have to pay for the flight from Liverpool to Belfast but we would be able to claim this back. When we got to Liverpool the 18.30 flight was boarding and was full and the 20.30 was cancelled..No help whats so ever from the easyjet staff at Liverpool(truth is the staff there were fighting with each other and we were piggy in the middle).Given that they had got us out of Barcelona they seemed to indicate that once I accepted an alternative flight they had honoured their agreement.Ended up boooking alternative flights and hotel accom costing over £500.00.Still waiting on result...Were/how/who do you claim from???

  • Patrick - I hope you got sorted, sorry I haven't been on this forum for a while.

I put my claim in online - there was a link in the cancellation email. It took forever.

Friends of mine just phoned the customer service centre and said they were making a EC 261/2004 claim and they put the €400 per passenger compensation onto his debit card there and then!

I gave up trying to claim back the money we spent the extra flights after getting a number of replies saying their policy was that we had to pay our own way to Belfast after they got us to a "nearby" airport. Scandalous.

Anyway - the EC 261/2004 regulations are your friend here. They have admitted that it was crew shortage - and that's covered by this regulation so get your claim in. Phone them ASAP.
