Misprice on play.com

Hello,
Im sorry if i have put this is the wrong place, but recently i have bought the following off play.com
Photon Micron I White
It was £2.99 inc delivery. I had been waiting about a week for this to arrive as it was my friends birthday coming up and thought it was a cool present.
As it was getting near the time of the birthday i thought i better check to see where it was.
Having done this i had seen it had been cancelled without even letting me know.
I wrote an email expressing my dissapointment as it was for a birthday and that they had not even let me know there had cancelled it.
Today i had an email off them saying that it was technical error resulting in a price error!!! as if me thinks!!!!
Does anyone know if there is anything i can as they have to commit to this offer at the price?
Any help i woule be happy, sorry to go on a bit.
Thanks
Tom

Not really that helpful but i bought on of these last week, charged £2.99 and was delivered.
And to be honest not that impressed with it0 -
Unfortunatly you cannot do anything as i am sure now they have it written into their T&C's that orders are not confirmed until you receive an email or the item is shipped out.
I ordered a boxset of DVD's about 5 months ago and they mispriced them and cancelled the order without letting me know but it still shows on my outstanding orders but it says "misprice do not re-activate"0 -
Exactly same happened to me!!!
i emailed them saying it was disgraceful they never even told me they had cancelled my order, still awaiting a reply.0 -
yes and no, i have checked into this and yes they have certain duties but none of them apply until they take a payment from you. in short no one has to sell you anything, offering an item for a price is not a contract. so you could go anywhere and until they accept payment you would be very hard pushed to make them liable in anyway. crap isnt it. - it would be interesting to see someone take a seller to court though as the info from trading standards contradicts itself.
Many sites are now exploiting this to get people into the store and sometimes they send out some they dont this is false advertising and is not allowed but you prove it!!! sites like this one are becoming free advertising for them and the consumer getting his own back balance is shifting as they increase buyers who will pick up other items while we try and extract a bargin.
time for a change in the law i think but, like thats going to happen with such a week gov. in place. Maybe a challenge for martin and team to influence consumer rights in a very positive way.0 -
Even though this has happened to me once I rate play.com very highly and still use them to purchase items mainly xbox 360 games0

It is really annoying when this happens. A similar thing happened to me with Gamestation - they refused to honour a sale price on game I had ordered, saying they were out of stock, even though they had the game on the web site at their full price. I rang my local Trading Standards, but the gist of it seemed to be that unless they have taken the money out of your account you have no come back.
I have used Play.com a lot and found them very reliable - often the cheapest and things arrive promptly. Only time I had a problem was when a dvd did not arrive - they immediately sent another one without question. I consider them one of the most reliable internet traders, but things like this don't do their reputation any good and they should take note.0 -
Play.com are not the best at taking responsibility for ther mistakes.
Earlier this year they wrongly described a DVD writer (Pioneer 110D), which many returned without any compensation for disappointment/time/effort/loaning payments etc.
A FAIRWEATHER COMPANY so beware.
