I need some advice, the Masters programme work is running is fairly rubbish and many of us have quit, not submitted been totally confused and mislead by the tutors. I have sat through a year of it and got no where, I could have resubmitted the two assignments but I didn't, mainly due to conflicting information and the absolute embarrassment of having to correct the tutors.

I feel like I should quit, but don't actually want to because it is an opportunity to get a fre MA. However I am at a loss to know where to start. Once I am debt free I could do one with OU......

    Opinions please.

If you quit the work one how much credit would be lost? Is the position with the one you are on now salvageable, even with a bit of effort? It seems like a big thing to effectively throw away a year of time & effort?

  • Bookie, well done on the savings.

Luc, I personally like the first style and yes I like to play devils advocate! Have a word with your hair dresser and I'm sure they will help you decide on a style that's right for you.

I use to have hair that went half way down my back, I then had it cut into a bob as my hair had suffered years of abuse from being highlighted and it's now past the shoulder and looks a hell of a lot better. That reminds me I've not had my hair cut for 6 months, I may get the OH to cut it for me!

    Sorry for the rambles there!

No credit lost, for the first course only two people submitted, out of 27 the rest of us quit, due to the lack of organisation and support.

So they rethought the programme and yes,the second course was slightly better but I didn't resubmit, it only picked up about 1/2 way through but I had taken on extra hours at work so never caught up.

This third course seems more with it. I guess I am thinking like this as the work I need to do is due tomorrow, I had set aside time as per timetable/list plan but obviously have spent much of the last two days being ill so its not finished. I also have marking due for tomorrow. I still feel like crap and slightly out of control.
I can't stay for the meeting tomorrow or tues cos I have my second job and I need the money now as I have missed so much lately.
(There are only 9 of us now - just as an indication of how badly the course has been run)

A big part of me thinks oh just quit it,its not even a properly run course for God's sake, the other part of me thinks I want a Masters and it is one of 3 reasons I am staying in the job from hell.
    Nevertheless she persisted.

I'd suggest sticking with it. You say yourself you're feeling crap right now because you are unwell and because of the time pressure. Phone someone NOW to say you can't make this week as you have been off work due to illness and commit to getting it done by this time next week. With a third of the number of people you should also be able to get more time with the tutors and the quality will improve. If this 3rd pass turns out to be just as rubbish then consider quitting... but not until you have a definitive alternative plan, not a 'one day when I have thousands of spare cash' type thought....;)

  • I guess I have nothing to lose by doing it, apart from the possible waste of time, if it gets as confusing as last time then I will stop. I can e mail the guy who runs the course and see what he says about me missing the next couple of meetings.... I think the real problem my other plan its a not a one day plan, its now possible in 7 months, the MA with OU was the one I wanted to do in the first place and I do wonder if my heart isn't really in this one - which sounds remarkably self indulgent but it is very boring:o.

I will send the e mail and see what he says.

    Cheers Lucx
