I'm not one for praising people on here as some may have noticed.

Just want to say though that your doing very well - Its fantastic to see someone that is committed to getting themselves out of debt and will sell off there luxuries to do it as well.

It must be hard to sell off all the things that go towards the lifestyle you have been having but you will be out of debt before you know it.

Well done and good luck
  • Thankyou for your praise.

however i have a long long way to go.

I am optomistic though and if i can stay positive and get my girlfriend to move in with me (It's on the cards i think) then i know i can speed up the process.

Getting rid of luxury's isn't a problem, i know i will have them again one day but they won't involve borrowing money. I still have a nice house and a nice car (Company) so it's not all bad.

  • Blimey...........

It's 00:34 and i have just listed 42 items on ebay with lots to go.

If everything went for its minimum i would get about £500 which isn't bad.

I am guessing everything won't sell but i have quite a lot mor to stick on there but i am soooooo bored of ebay for now.

Got my free blockbuster rentals today and watched one of them..

haven't spent a penny for 2 days either!

The bad side of that is i get no change to save :D:D :rotfl:

Well done Stuart - you really get the bit between the teeth and go for it. You will make huge inroads to your debt carrying on with this enthusiasm.
Good luck with your Ebaying and I hope you aren't up all night doing it!

That has a nice snowball calc where u can put in the intrest rates etc.

I was around the 22grand mark when i started mate (think it was turn of the year) now my sig says it all. So there is hope. Trust me

I would think about loosing sky for bit i did.

Also if you have a lot of clutter around the house dvds you never watch etc.. Get them stuck on ebay

Thats a really good page, it shows that as the term of the loan gets longer and longer the payments decrease by smaller amounts due to increased amount of interest and after a point they dont decrease at all. So a 999 month loan have the same monthly payments as a 900 month loan.

Another thing I think is cruel and immoral is that banks charge more APR for poorer higher risk customers but these very customers would be lower risk if they were offered the same APR as people with higher income since they are more likely to meet lower monthly payments.

Stu I think you should keep the sky, if I understand you right you already made many cutbacks stopped new credit and not spending a lot on a social life and if you ditched sky you would drive yourself crazy having no luxuries at all. when I rang debt advice agency they told me the bank had to allow me a certian amount to spend on luxuries and as I dont go out sky and broadband are reasonable. Spending 30 quid a month on sky is a bit different to spending hundreds on clothes and parties a month.
  • Chrysalis,

Thankyou for that, i know it makes financial sense to cancel "Everything" but you have to have something don't you!!!!

I truely believe that i have a handle on my spending and have had for twelve months, however it is the planning and strategy for getting rid of the debt that i have struggled with.

I now seem to be on track a little and once the bike has gone, my bank charges have been returned and i am all Ebay'd out then i will do a full SOA and use the snowball calculator to try and determine the next best course of action.

    Thankyou for your comments
