White chocolate for chocolate fountain?

Has anyone used the cheap supermarket white chocolate, ie Tesco Value, for a chocolate fountain or would it be best to go for the more expensive chocolate especially for the fountains?
It's for a child's birthday party and it will be dyed green (to look like slime - it's a long story!) so I don't really need to go down the Belgian chocolate route. But equally don't want to serve up something that's 50% vegetable oil!
ANy tried and tested recommendations would be great. Thanks.

Ive used stuff thats a bit cheaper but you still have to make sure its got a minimum % cocoa in it or it wont pass through properly. My instructions said what the minimum was so maybe check the leaflet that came with it. Im liking the idea of the slime BTW. Sounds cool!0

Hi there. I have used Sainsburys cheap branded chocolate for this. The milk chocolate worked ok, but the white chocolate wasnt so good. It seemed to be thicker and wouldn't go through the fountain as good as the milk choc did. However the white choc is totally beaut if you want a bar to eat! lol. Have you tried milkybar for the fountain?- Winners make things happen, losers let things happen -:j0

i have used white chocolate in fountains, both cheap, middle of the road and milky bar,my favourite!
you need to add about 1-2 tablespoons of vegetable oil to the chocolate once its melted to get it to flow properly, also be careful melting white chocolate as it is less tolerant of too much heat compared to milk.
the chocolate you buy for fountains is specifically designed to flow, so when using bars you need to add a little oil to achieve this.
we did this for the school summer fayre and i put flumps carefully onto a skewer and sold them for 50p a dip and they were gone in seconds! could have sold loads more
have a good halloween, the green chocolate is a great idea! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
