Pine furniture

Has pine gone out of fashion?
I am looking for largish book cases and a pine desk, not too expensive.
Would prefer proper pine to pine veneer but am looking for my son who has a minimal budget!!

Argos only seem to do a pine coloured CD holder, not wall units.

Any suggestions welcome.

I think pine has been largely superceded by oak over the last few years but pine should still be available in some outlets. Have you tried any independent furniture shops rather than chains such as Argos?
