How do I know if a broker is reputable?

Am so new to this mortgage game! I need to get my first mortgage but I don't know where to begin......
I am not a first time buyer as such as I already own half of my property (inheritance) and am just buying the other half.
Have searched for a mortgage broker and think I have found one locally but how do I know if they are any good? I'm single so its just me dealing with this. I don't feel I know enough about mortgages to do this without a broker.
The one I have found is 100% market, fees are payable on completion of mortgage - says its around £99 usually. It says brokers are CeMAP qualified and have 15 years experience. Open Saturdays which is good for me as I work Mon-Fri and local enough that I can get there if I have a problem
There are testimonials on the site but I know not to always believe what you read.
Is there something specific I should be looking for or do I just have to chance it? Have asked around and nobody I know can recommend a broker locally to me.
Thanks

hi,
some on here might disagree but if you are only wanting 50% of the value of the property why don't you try HSBC or first direct who have a 1.69% above base rate tracker & up to 60% of the value of the property. there total charges are £99.00 (what you quoted would be just the broker fee, & some BS or banks are charging £999.00 fee's on top).
there are no over payment fee's either so you can pay it off as soon as you like.
you have to get it sorted soon cos i think it finishes at the end of this month.
